Welcome. I am a correspondent for Outside Magazine based in Breckenridge, Colorado. I also write for Men's Journal, BIKE, and SKI, and have freelanced for Parade, ESPN the Magazine, and Popular Science, among others. My work has been selected for the Best American Travel Writing anthology (2019) and noted in the Best American Sports Writing (2007). For four years I worked as a contract and staff writer for ESPN.com, covering the X Games and Olympic sports, and before that as a daily newspaperman. In 2015, I coauthored a book with Rainer Hertrich called The Longest Run: How a Colorado ski bum skied every day for more than eight years.
