Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to check out this site.

I am a writer based in Breckenridge, Colorado. Before plunging into the freelance world full time in September 2007, I worked for five years as sports editor of two daily newspapers. My writing has been published by ESPN.com, Outside, the Boston Globe Magazine, National Geographic Adventure, Men's Journal, Popular Science, the L.A. Times, Skiing, EXPN, 5280, the Mountain Gazette, Running Times, and the Denver Post. A story I wrote for the Summit Daily News in 2006, "Miracle in Moab," was cited in The Best American Sports Writing as a notable work.

I have written narrative features on subjects ranging from the first black player in NHL history (Boston Globe Magazine cover story), to a radical Alaskan snowmobiler who launched the sport's freestyle movement (EXPN), to a controversial distance-running coach who produced seven Olympians before he was exiled from the world level (Running Times). Although much of my work focuses on sports and profiles, I also do history, travel, and mountain culture stories.
